***Please note:  If you e-mail me (or tell me) about an event and it is not posted in a day or two, PLEASE remind me.  Sometimes it gets overwhelming, stuff gets lost, slips by, or I simply forget.***

Upcoming Events is one of the most visited areas on this website.  While we try to list ALL the happenings on the water, we are happy to add worthy land functions, too.  Fund raisers, benefits, and charity events; if it’s a worthy cause we will be glad to post.  Send information (preferably a flyer) to rob@riverratrob.com   (remember to mention something in the subject line).

I will post some events with “Date T.B.A.” (to be announced).  That means I do not have the date at this time, but have a general idea about when it will be.  If you have the date, please contact me, so we can share it with all.  If I do not post it in a timely manner, PLEASE e-mail me a POLITE reminder and I will get it posted.

As of August 16th, 2008, here is what we know:

(check back, as we will be updating and adding events)  Thanks to all that help me come up with these dates.  It is NOT easy keeping up with all of it and I couldn't do it by myself.)

I get asked about our local bands a lot.  People want to know where they will be playing.  It would take up way too much of my time and cost a lot for me to post that much information.  Many of our locals already know this, on any given weekend, the BEST place to see where all of our local bands are performing is in The Nickel Ads  (free yellow weekly sales paper)

Note:  In years gone by, anyone wanting to have an event on the water would simply pick a weekend when nothing else was going on.  Now, we sometimes have two or three events on any given weekend.  Plan early and consider others events that might be happening that same weekend.

    September
Keep the boating season going   About September.  After Labor Day, school starts, football season kicks off, and hunting season begins, traffic on our waterways drops drastically.  Our places on the water miss you and your business.  Please consider doing what you can to extend the boating season.  A well kept secret is that this is truly the best time of year to go boat riding.  With temperatures still in the 80's all the way up to December, come out and have a good time.  Its the best time of the year to be on the water.  Not as much boat traffic, less stress, and lots more fun.  Think about it.  (As with NASCAR, they have all the races and the football games on the big screens).  Check it out.
Sept 1st Monday Labor Day  (3 day weekend)
Sept 7th Sunday Billy Joe Royal makes his first appearance at Fred's on the River.  (Trent and Fly By Nite will also perform).  Don't miss this!

Krewe of Jonathan Mardi Gras Boat Parade
The JAM:  2009  (Our little party for Jonathan)  While there may     be  other parties at The Sand Bar, we will not be doing one this year)
Battle of the Bateaus

You are listening to one of my favorite songs by Jonathan, "Runaway Train."  It is off 'An Evening With Jonathan' and you can hear or watch the entire performance  at   www.JonathanArrington.com.  The song describes and fits Jonathan very well.  He is playing a beautiful 12 string guitar, which was a gift from his 'Uncle Jay.'  This is one of a very few songs where he ever played this guitar in public.

All dates are subject to change.  I am not responsible for anything, (just ask my ex-wife).  Incorrect dates, events get cancelled, you have a bad time, your boat sinks, breaks down, gets stolen, your girlfriend runs off with your wife, you get a ticket, none of it is my fault.  Having said that, I hope you have a great (and safe) summer.  Check back for updates!
